Search for Telegram signal groups and one of the first results is usually a Reddit thread. Someone asks whether these groups are legit, admits they are tempted to join one, and within minutes the replies roll in: "scam", "pump and dump", "stay away".
We run a signals service, so you might expect us to argue with that. We won't. Most of the warnings in those threads are fair, and anyone thinking about joining a signals group should take them seriously. But "every group is a scam" isn't the full picture either. This article gives you an honest answer to the question: are Telegram crypto signal groups worth it?
What Reddit Gets Right
The skepticism didn't come from nowhere. These are the patterns traders keep reporting, and they are real:
- The "use our platform" model. Many groups require you to sign up on a specific trading platform, often one with poor reviews. The group earns a commission on every trade you make, so their income depends on how much you trade, not on whether you win. In the worst cases, the platform itself is the trap: small withdrawals work, larger ones never arrive.
- Cherry-picked wins. It is easy to post screenshots of winning trades and stay quiet about the losers. A wall of profit screenshots proves nothing.
- Pump and dump on small coins. The admins buy a low-cap token first, post it as a "signal", let members push the price up, then sell into that buying. The members are the exit liquidity.
- Borrowed credibility. Some groups are fronted by influencers or attractive faces to build trust fast. A famous name is not a track record.
- Anonymity. Telegram makes it easy to disappear and reappear under a new name when things go wrong.
The Best Question From Reddit
One argument comes up in almost every thread: if someone really had a winning strategy, why would they share it with strangers instead of just trading it themselves?
It's a fair question, and the honest answer has a few parts. A signal is not a money printer. Even good analysis loses regularly, and results depend heavily on entry timing, position size and risk management, which differ for every follower. For a signals provider, subscriptions create steady income that doesn't depend on any single trade, which is exactly why legitimate services exist alongside their own trading.
But that same logic is also why you should never believe a provider that promises guaranteed profits or a near-perfect win rate. Nobody with a real edge talks like that, because real trading doesn't work like that.
When a Signals Group Is NOT Worth It

Walk away if you see any of these:
- You must deposit on a platform the group chooses, especially one you can't find on major review sites
- Calls on tiny, illiquid coins that move hundreds of percent in minutes
- No stop loss on signals, or stop losses that are quietly removed later
- Only profits are shown, never the full history
- Promises like "guaranteed", "100% accuracy" or "double your money"
- Pressure to pay now, limited spots, or DMs from "admins" offering private deals
We cover more warning signs in our guide on how to spot a fake crypto signals channel, and why so many channels hide their losses.
When a Signals Group CAN Be Worth It
A signals service can make sense when all of these are true:
- You keep control of your money. You trade on a major exchange in your own account. Nobody else touches your funds.
- The coins are liquid. Signals on established coins listed on major exchanges are much harder to manipulate than calls on unknown tokens.
- Every signal has a plan. Clear entry zone, targets and a stop loss, posted before the move.
- The full record is public. Wins and losses, over a long period, ideally tracked automatically rather than chosen by hand.
- You treat it as a tool, not a promise. You still decide your position size and how much you are willing to lose.
Do the Math Before You Pay

This is the part most people skip. A subscription has to pay for itself before it makes you anything.
If you pay $49 a month and trade with a $300 account, you need roughly 16% profit every month just to cover the subscription. That's a very hard target, and chasing it usually leads to oversized positions and too much leverage. With a $3,000 account, the same fee is under 2% a month, which is far more realistic.
How We Approach It at Bullstar Signals
We know how this space looks from the outside, so we built our service around the checks above:
- Our signals are on coins listed on Binance Futures, traded in your own exchange account
- Every signal comes with an entry zone, targets and a stop loss
- Completed trades, including stop losses, are published automatically in our public track record
- We count a win only when a signal reaches Target 3 or higher
You don't have to take our word for any of it:
- Full VIP track record: bullstarsignals.com/results
- Free signals channel: t.me/+IgbY7oJYGQ4zMDky
Start with the free channel, follow the results for a few weeks, and decide for yourself.
The Honest Answer
Are Telegram crypto signal groups worth it? Most of them, no. The Reddit crowd is right to be suspicious, and that suspicion will save a lot of people money.
But a signals service can be worth it when you keep control of your funds, the trades are on liquid coins, every signal has a stop loss, the full record is public, and the subscription is small compared to your account. If a group can't pass those checks, don't join it, no matter how good the screenshots look.
